N’s story (30s)

The  actual war was a long time ago, and I think what people really talk about is the dictatorship now more than the war.  That’s what my parents lived through and that’s a lot more vivid.

For most people, life was alright, you know, if you were happy with the sort of authoritarian Catholic state where you just got on with your life, then it was fine.

So I think it’s a bit dangerous to think that everyone was against it.

It has never gone away and it is really quite popular at the minute when you look at Vox.

I guess the people who shout the loudest are the ones who are really pro, really against, and then you’ve got the whole middle ground who just doesn’t say very much.
